Now that i have it i m liking the one inch thickness better as it will be much easier to control the thickness of the build.

Insulating beyond 3 thick using ceramic fiber blanket isn t really needed. The wool is what is doing the insulating and the coating if any thicker than needed is just becoming a heat sink. Can i cast my liner and skip using ceramic fiber blanket to line my forge. With a superior quality blanket you can save a lot of fuel and get the most out of your forge.

Initially i was looking for 2600f blanket in 2 thinkness but for the price and quantity 50 feet this was not to be passed up. The ceramic blanket and board needs to be stabilized so fibers do not become airborne when the forge is in operation. This is a quality ceramic insulator that will work very well in my homemade forge builds. Imho i think you have a good plan of attack.
